These Great Products Help Calm and Relax

Every baby goes through different moments when they are completely content one minute and then suddenly so upset and inconsolable the next that you just don't know what else you can do to help them calm down. After trying almost everything you find that you are nearly at your wits end and you start lose hope that you will ever find a solution. However; the following products might bring the relief you've been wishing for during those rough times. These are items that I've tried and are true that I wished someone had shared with me before I had my baby, so I didn't have such a tough time trying to find out what would help him relax and calm down when he was cranky.

Before Choosing a Calming Product

If your baby can not be consoled, first make sure they are not seriously hurt or ill. These products may have worked for my baby, but might not always be affective for every child. When considering anything meant for topical or oral use, don't forget to read the warnings and other label information before hand. It is important to find a product that is comfortable for you and your baby, there are many products out there, but hopefully some of these are the resolution you've been searching for.

Vicks Baby Rub Soothing Ointment

This baby rub is a lifesaver in my book because as you are rubbing it on your baby you also start to feel the calming affects. Unlike some ointments, this rub has a great smell and is not too pungent or oily. Some of the calming ingredients include aloe, eucalyptus, and scents of lavender and rosemary.

The bottle suggests places to apply the ointment, but my favorite spot is on the baby's feet. Research has shown that the soles of your feet tend to absorb more oils. As a result from the ingredients included in this rub, the muscles will relax and your baby will feel calm. To my surprise, this is also a good cough reliever remedy. Since I have found this product, every time my little one has a cough I put the rub on his feet and his cough has subsided & he has been able to sleep more peacefully. A little bit goes a long way, so apply sparingly.

Johnson's Baby Bedtime Lotion

This is a product I not only like to use on the baby, but also on myself when I need to relax. It has a soft lavender smell that seems to be released as you rub it on the skin. This lotion has especially come in handy whenever my little guy has gotten his immunizations. The muscles in his legs get so tight when he gets shots and this is the only thing that seems to help them relax. Since it has this ability, the lotion also works wonders for growing pains. This was especially helpful for my little boy, as he has always grown so quickly.

We use this lotion every night after the baby has had a bath and it really helps him to start calming down for bed. You can rub it everywhere, I even put some on my baby's face, so he can have those relaxing aromas while he is sleeping. I love that there are several sizes of this product, which vary from convenient travel size to an extra large pump bottle. Johnson's actually has an entire line of bedtime products that include body wash and bubble bath, but the lotion is my favorite.

How to Message Your Baby

Boiron - Camilia Homeopathic Medicine

This is the most effective treatment I have found for teething irritability and pain relief! After the first couple times of using this product my baby was actually eager to take it, I believe because he understood it would help him feel better. I was really worried about giving my child teething gels that have benzocaine in it, especially as I found my baby would be bothered by his teeth the most while he was sleeping and I didn't want him to have complications breathing from the numbing effects. I also was not fond of turning to medications that just temporarily reduce the pain, which are time sensitive products. Thus, I tried a few different herbal and homeopathic products, but this was by far the best.

This product works naturally with your baby's body, the doses are individually packaged in plastic dropper capsules for convenient use, and you never have to worry about over medicating. It not only relieves the pain that comes with teething, but also sore gums, irritability, and some digestive issues that babies might get while teething. You really can't go wrong with this product; it is a miracle antidote for a fussy baby that is teething. The three homeopathic remedies included in this medicine are chamomilla, phytolacca decandra, and rheum, which have many more uses in helping with mood and health in general.
